How do you play Minesweeper?

Open cells without hitting a mine. A number shows how many mines touch that cell, including diagonals. Use the numbers to deduce where mines are, flag them, and open every safe cell to win.

Is the first click always safe?

Yes. Mines are placed after your first click, and the first cell and its neighbours never contain a mine.

What are the Minesweeper difficulty levels?

Easy is 10x8 with 10 mines, Medium is 18x14 with 40 mines, Hard is 24x20 with 99 mines and Expert is 30x20 with 130 mines.

How do I place a flag on mobile?

Long-press a cell to flag it, or turn on Flag mode with the flag button and tap cells to flag them.

Tap or click an opened number whose flags already match its value to open all remaining neighbouring cells at once.

Can I share my Minesweeper result?

Yes. After a win or a game over, press Share to open the share menu: native share sheet, copy text or link, save a result image, WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Facebook or email.

Does Minesweeper have sound?

Yes. Sound effects are generated in your browser and can be muted with the speaker button or the M key.

What do 3BV, 3BV/s and efficiency mean in Minesweeper?

3BV is the minimum number of clicks needed to clear the board without flags. 3BV/s is your speed in those clicks per second, and efficiency compares 3BV to the clicks you actually used.

Where is the leaderboard saved?

The top 10 times for each level are stored in your browser's localStorage on your own device, and are never sent to a server.
